About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at WMU Homer Stryker, M.D. School of Medicine. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory venipunctures and micro-phlebotomy procedures with precision and accuracy.
  • Process specimens and facilitate their transportation to hospitals in a timely manner.
  • Check patients in and out of the laboratory, ensuring a seamless experience for all.
  • Organize and maintain inventory and logs for the department, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Be available to work occasional overtime on weekends or evenings to complete time-sensitive projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technology and policy/procedure revisions, applying this knowledge to improve our laboratory services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • High school diploma plus a minimum of one year experience as a phlebotomist.
  • Phlebotomist certification, preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in laboratory venipunctures, operation of centrifuge, DCA 2000, LIS system, fax machine, and computers and links to hospital systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines and prioritize tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Ability to interpret, comprehend, and transmit complicated and detailed instructions accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize priorities in organization of work flow.
  • Able to perform duties independently, with minimal need for direct supervision.
