Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Infusion Pharmacy Technician to join our team at MercyOne Home Infusion in Des Moines, Iowa. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for performing various duties under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain all related prescription and compounding logs, delivery manifests, and other related files as determined by the Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist in charge.
  • Clean the pharmacy, compounding area, and warehouse per policy and procedure.
  • Maintain any pharmacy-related equipment and documents any related aseptic validation testing procedures and maintain a record of those results.
  • Perform daily temperature checks on refrigerators, freezers, and drug storage areas and document with biohazard waste disposal in accordance with EPA, OSHA, and state guidelines.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of pharmacy personnel.
  • Participate in branch quality assurance program.
  • Participate in on-call pharmacy team meetings.
  • Communicate concerns, questions, and complaints or problems reported from patients/caregivers to appropriate supervisor.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement (PI) Program Coordination; including assisting with the overall development and implementation of the PI plan, assisting in the identification of goals and related patient outcomes, participation and reporting of activities and outcomes, development and implementation of corrective plans.
  • Clean and calibrate IV pumps and poles and compounding equipment per manufacturer's guidelines and policy and procedures.
  • Accurately prepare and assemble patient-specific supplies for delivery to client. Assemble ancillary supply prepackaging as directed.
  • Assist with retrieval and documentation of lab results as needed for patient assessment.
  • Program or double-check IV pump settings for accuracy prior to delivery.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Pharmacy Technician meets requirements for licensure/certification in the state of Iowa. In states without licensure/certification requirements, obtains certification within six months of employment.
  • IV compounding experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of medical technology.
  • Ability to function well as part of team.
  • Availability for full-time, regular day-time hours and ability to work some on-call hours.
  • Two years Pharmacy Technician experience preferred.
