The primary purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct all in-service educational programs throughout the Nursing Facility in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing, to assure that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing and general supervision of the NATP RN/PD, the CNA instructor will follow the California Department of Public Health approved curriculum:

Nurse Assistant Training Assessment Program (NATAP), developed by the California Community College Chancellors Office and adopted by Prosperity Training Center.

The instructor is responsible to train non-certified individuals in basic nursing tasks consisting of a minimum of 60 hours of theory/classroom training on basic nursing skills, patient safety and rights, the social and psychological problems of patients, and elder abuse recognition and reporting.

Additionally, the curriculum shall include within the 60 hours of theory/classroom training, a minimum of 6 hours of instruction on preventing, recognizing, and reporting instances of abuse utilizing those courses developed pursuant to Section of the Penal Code, and a minimum of 1 hour of instruction on preventing, recognizing, and reporting residents' rights violations.

The ideal candidate will have a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, two years of nursing experience (LVN or RN), and one year verifiable experience as a licensed nurse providing care and services in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting.

Responsibilities include planning, developing, evaluating, and coordinating educational and on-the-job training programs, developing and directing refresher training for assigned staff and licensed professional personnel, and assisting licensed nursing personnel in obtaining in-service training to keep their license current in accordance with state law.

The selected candidate will also be responsible for developing and participating in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of orientation programs that orient newly hired personnel to their position, the facility's policies and procedures, resident rights and responsibilities, etc.
