Mechanical Code Inspector

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Code Inspector to join our team at the City of Norfolk, VA. As a key member of our Building Safety Division, you will be responsible for conducting inspections and plan reviews to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and plan reviews to ensure compliance with mechanical codes and regulations
- Verify field construction complies with code requirements and approved plans
- Investigate code complaints and issue notices to correct or stop work orders as necessary
- Provide technical knowledge and information to contractors, architects, and engineers
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure code compliance and public safety
Requirements:
- Three years of experience in building construction, building, fire or housing inspections, plumbing, electrical or mechanical trades, fire protection, elevators, property maintenance, real estate, land use, or zoning
- Two years of experience in Building Code inspections in primary discipline (Mechanical)
- Strong knowledge of the Virginia Mechanical Code and some knowledge of the Virginia Construction Code
- Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain Special Police Commission with background check
