Job Summary:


Seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Corewell Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of routine and specialized tests and procedures in a clinical laboratory setting.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Independently performs routine and complex chemical, hematologic, microscopic, morphologic immunologic, and/or microbiologic procedures using laboratory instruments or manual techniques.
  • Applies advanced knowledge, training, and clinical judgment to release quality patient test results, evaluate instrument performance, and correlate results with other laboratory data and disease states.
  • Standardizes, calibrates, and performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Collaborates with section supervisors and directors to develop and implement new test procedures and methodologies.
  • Participates in the instruction of clinical laboratory science to students, residents, and new employees.
  • Contributes to quality assurance and regulatory agency activities, including proficiency testing, quality control, and procedure manual development.
  • Provides direction and guidance to medical laboratory technicians and other laboratory personnel on specimen acceptability, unusual results, and instrument or method problems.
  • Communicates with healthcare workers and the public on lab results, procedures, and technology.

Requirements:



  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with 16 semester hours in biology and 16 semester hours in chemistry.
  • Completion of a clinical laboratory approved or accredited program by NAACLS or at least three months of documented laboratory training in each specialty.
  • Clinical internship proof of completion or equivalent experience/training.
  • U.S. certification, certification eligibility, or certification assessment by a recognized certifying agency, such as ASCP or AMT.
