Job Summary:

As a Radiology Technologist at Advocate Aurora Health, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Radiology Department. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Radiology Technologist AMG.

Main Responsibilities:

• Position patients, adjust equipment, secure and immobilize support devices as needed to perform procedures.
• Determine appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient condition to obtain quality films for radiologists.
• Secure history from patients regarding reason for prescribed tests and record on appropriate forms for radiologists to review.

Operate Advanced Radiology Equipment:

• Assist radiologists with procedures, including advanced and specialty procedures, requiring additional experience and knowledge.

Adhere to Safety Standards:

• Use universal precautions in daily performance of procedures.
• Maintain compliance with established safety standards to protect patients and staff at all times.
• Maintain exposure badges and supplies for assigned rooms on a daily basis.
• Administer CPR as necessary.
• Ensure accuracy of examinations performed and requisitions.
• Familiarize yourself with MSDS information pertaining to chemicals used in the department.

Coordinate Quality Control Tasks:

• Check film quality and ensure proper labeling is provided.
• Coordinate patient flow into and out of the department in accordance with established departmental/center procedures.
• Perform quality control activities, respond to inquiries, coordinate patient flow, and communicate with radiologists and other personnel to ensure exams are completed in a timely fashion.
• Prepare radiology rooms for procedures and equipment and supplies as required.
• Report deficient inventory and linen to immediate supervisors.
• Label radiology images according to department standards and criteria.
• Prepare contrast media as necessary following department standards and manufacturers' recommendations.
• Perform daily sensitometry of processors; assist physicists and/or state inspectors in performance of annual inspections.

Provide Instruction and Orientation:

• Provide direction and instruction to technologists in need of assistance with specific procedures.
• Participate in problem-solving issues addressing patients, department operations, quality assurance procedures, interdepartmental relationships, and employee morale.
• Maintain positive patient relations and telephone etiquette following prescribed departmental policies and procedures.
• May be required to supervise student technologists assigned to the center and provide input into the student's performance to the clinical instructor.
• Maintain current ARRT certification, IDNS licensure, and CPR certification.

Education and Experience:

• Graduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology.
• IDNS license.
• 1-3 years of experience as a general radiographer.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Health Information System.
• Basic knowledge of radiology equipment.
• Certified in radiology and registered by ARRT.
• CPR certification.
• Licensed by IDNS.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Able to make independent professional decisions pertaining to high-quality patient care.
• High degree of technical skills.
• Must be able to function with minimal assistance in performing job activities.
• Ability to deal with extremely ill patients.
• Ability to lift and/or move patients.
• Ability to work under stressful conditions, in difficult situations.
• May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases.
• Ability to work rotating shifts during center hours of operation.

Pay Range:

$42.30
