Job Summary:

The Exercise Physiologist will perform comprehensive health and fitness assessments for patients and athletes, develop and revise exercise prescriptions, monitor progress, and document the efficacy of exercise therapy.

Strong interpersonal and educational skills are required for effective patient and family education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop exercise programs to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, or circulatory functioning, adhering to exercise science standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors and Nurses to create and prescribe individualized exercise programs, modifying as needed.
  • Evaluate new patients, interpret findings, and assess risk factors contributing to cardiac diseases, helping patients develop modification plans for diabetes management, hypertension care, diet, exercise, depression, stress, and smoking cessation.
  • Explain exercise programs, physiological testing procedures, and equipment to patients.
  • Monitor BP, heart rate, and rhythm, blood glucose during exercise sessions.
  • Communicate patient progress to physicians, including any abnormalities or concerns about patient status.
  • Analyze exercise program participant data to evaluate progress or identify needed program changes.
  • Conduct follow-up visits and/or telephone calls with participants to monitor progress and compliance with exercise programs.
  • Perform continuous education regarding risk factor modification using a holistic approach.
  • Maintain accurate records of exercises performed.

Requirements:

  • CPR certification is required or must be obtained within the first month of employment.
  • ACSM Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification.
  • BLS/CPR required.
  • ACLS required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology/Science, Kinesiology, or a related field from an accredited university or college, with a minimum of experience in Cardiac Rehab or a fitness setting or related field with cardiac testing.

Experience includes student internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Exercise Physiology/Science or a related field, with a minimum of one year of experience in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation, and past experience in Cardiopulmonary Testing.
