Housing Our Neighbors

HPD is entrusted with fulfilling these objectives through the goals and strategies of Housing Our Neighbors: A Blueprint for Housing and Homelessness, Mayor Adams' comprehensive housing framework. This investment, coupled with a commitment to reduce administrative and regulatory barriers, is a multi-pronged strategy to tackle New York City's complex housing crisis.

Your Team

The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) leads the agency's effort to work closely with other HPD divisions and outside community partners to identify buildings in distress, assess and develop appropriate strategies to address those properties, and work closely with responsible owners to develop a plan to improve conditions and return buildings to firm financial footing and physical health.

Your Role

As a Community Associate/CODE Lead Clerical Support in the Division of Code Enforcement (CODE), you will be responsible for a variety of administrative functions, including reviewing and processing Local Law Lead Exemption Applications for Private and NYCHA dwellings, acquiring a general understanding of the Local Law 1 of Housing Maintenance Code, and performing research and evaluating inspection reports for accuracy and completeness.

Qualifications
  • High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above
