About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Cardiology Technologist to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing, calibrating, and administering radiopharmaceuticals in the performance of clinical procedures in the Nuclear Cardiology area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe handling and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Utilize technical expertise to optimize diagnostic images, minimizing radiation exposure to patients, staff, and the public.
  • Implement safety protocols to maintain patient and personnel safety, intervening when necessary.
  • Collaborate with cardiology staff to ensure proper use of personnel monitoring devices, maintaining records and providing guidance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring the testing area is properly supplied and operational.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and communication of clinical decisions to supervisors and department cardiologists.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives, providing input and suggestions for process improvement.
  • Develop and implement educational objectives and learning experiences for department and hospital staff, staying current with trends and developments.
  • Perform imaging views and patient positioning according to established protocols, selecting additional views as necessary.
  • Process film and review studies to ensure necessary information is provided for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations regarding receipt and disposal of radionuclides, performing surveys and wipe tests as needed.
  • Decontaminate areas and implement measures to reduce exposure, following policy and procedure.
  • Collaborate with consulting nuclear physicists to implement changes as necessary.
  • Seek assistance from staff nurses as needed, initiating preventive and corrective actions to ensure patient and environmental safety.
  • Compile and submit statistical data to supervisors, maintaining open communication regarding patient status, testing problems, and unit environment.
  • Stay current with changes in nuclear cardiology trends and practices through reading materials and attendance at inservice programs, continuing education, and unit-based conferences.
  • Provide competent assessment, treatment, and care to patients, addressing individualized and developmental needs.
  • Attend department meetings and participate in unit-based conferences, applying knowledge and skills to areas of specialty.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved school of nuclear technology.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in radioisotope techniques.
  • Full knowledge of Nuclear Regulatory Commission rules and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
  • Diagnostics Radiography License or NJ Registered Radiological Technologist License or NJ State Radiography License.
