We are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Specialist to join our Office of Head Start Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) team. The successful candidate will work with our client, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and the Office of Head Start (OHS).

Job Description

The Early Childhood Specialist will support the OHS Region II Office located in New York, NY. Key responsibilities include providing on-site, group, and virtual TTA to grant recipients related to school readiness, family engagement, and professional development.

  • Provide technical assistance related to child assessment, curriculum, and teaching that is age, developmentally, culturally, and linguistically appropriate across the birth-to-five spectrum.
  • Assist grant recipients to improve teacher/child interactions, develop procedures and skills to aggregate and analyze data, implement a research-based coaching model, and strengthen birth-to-five transition practices.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or advanced degree in early childhood education/development or a related field, with at least 5 years' experience in programs for young children ranging from birth to five years old.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in facilitating group discussions, presenting to various audiences, analyzing data, and assisting programs to make data-driven decisions.
  • Familiarity with CLASS TOT certification and mental health/social emotional development.

Head Start is a nationwide comprehensive child development program serving pregnant women, eligible children from birth to five years old, and their families. The TTA system plays a crucial role in supporting program staff to deliver high-quality services that promote school readiness for children and strengthen their families.
