About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Regional Transportation Planner and Project Manager to join our team at Northwest New Mexico Council of Governments. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing regional transportation plans, managing projects, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as planning or community development, and at least two years of experience in professional work related to community planning and development. You will also possess strong writing and analytical skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement regional transportation plans, including the long-range transportation plan, and provide technical assistance to local governments and other stakeholders;
  2. Manage projects and programs, including prioritizing, developing, and financing transportation projects;
  3. Conduct research and analysis to support data-driven decisions and applications for funding;
  4. Prepare reports, grant proposals, and correspondence for internal and external use; and
  5. Provide legislative technical assistance and liaison services to local governments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as planning or community development;
  • At least two years of experience in professional work related to community planning and development;
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to independently compose and self-edit correspondence, reports, summaries, and proposals;
  • Good analytical skills, ability to read, comprehend, and evaluate a wide range of professional material;
  • Sense of organization, ability to organize various/numerous projects, schedules, activities, materials, and information in an efficient and productive manner;
  • Fluent computer/word processing skills, ability to efficiently utilize current computer software to compose, edit, format, and print presentation-quality documents;
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico driver's license is required.

Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary of $$73,000 - $83,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
