Job Summary

The Clinic LPN shall begin the implementation of the nursing process as delegated by the Physician/FNP, but not limited to patient care documentation, direct observation, and patient process evaluations. Performs under the direct supervision of the Clinic/Office Manager and is delegated to achieve quality patient care and job performance. Has knowledge of the processes, policies, and procedures of Forrest General Hospital. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with employees and family members of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Assist with clinical operations to include education and clerical responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and assist with charts and records.
  • Handle phone calls, daily filing, and opening/closing charts, making copies of patient information for the billing department, when needed.
  • Assist with pre-cert, patient referrals, and seating patients in examining rooms as needed.
  • Fill in when the receptionist is out.
  • Assist with routine courier runs to the hospital as well as make runs to meet field staff to pick up/deliver supplies, etc.
  • Responsible for scheduled physician order runs.
  • Posting charges when needed.
  • Run various computer-generated reports.
  • Assist with patient care.
Performance Expectations
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development.
  • Possesses the ability to read data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described by the physician in charge.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist with a variety of procedures, exams, and/or operations of diagnostic equipment.
  • Demonstrates the appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures, and medications administered.
  • Follows all policies regarding clinic operations and patient care.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, safe environment for patients and personnel.
  • Ensures patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.
  • Makes accurate documentation in electronic medical record.
  • Responds to patient communication in a timely manner.
  • Safely and accurately administers medications.
  • Efficiently executes point of care testing and accurately documents results.
  • Demonstrates appropriate behavior both at work and away from facility that will positively reflect on profession as well as facility and organization.
Qualifications
  • Education/Skills: Graduate of a recognized LPN program.
  • Work Experience: Physician office or clinic nursing experience preferred. VFC experience preferred.
  • Certification/Licensure: Licensed LPN able to practice within the State of MS. Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below.
