About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Summer Conservation and Recreation Specialist. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about nature, conservation, and working with youth.

As a Summer Conservation and Recreation Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting our Ranger Adventure and Junior Ranger Adventure camp programs. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with recreational activities such as archery, fishing, paddling, teambuilding, and geocaching.
  • Maintaining accurate records including incident reports, equipment damage reports, behavioral issues documentation, time sheets, and camper registration.
  • Overseeing the pick-up and drop-off of camp participants.
  • Setting up and breaking down camp facilities and equipment.
  • Performing routine maintenance on camp equipment.
  • Operating District vehicles as needed.
  • Providing first aid and responding promptly to emergency situations.
About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • A valid Driver's License in good standing.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (training provided).
  • Illinois Mandated Reporter certification (training provided).
  • Previous camp counselor experience (preferred).
  • Knowledge of outdoor recreational activities including hiking, archery, fishing, and paddling (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
