Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work under the supervision of the RN Team Leader, providing total patient care and assisting the Registered Nurse in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing the patient plan of care as delegated by the RN Team Leader.
- Evaluate the quality and outcome of patient care.
- Provide care for patients undergoing clinical procedures.
- Clarify physician orders as indicated.
- Ensure the general comfort, welfare, and safety of patients.
Requirements
- Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse License.
- BLS Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Excellent interpersonal, telephone, and computer skills.
- Ability to function independently.
- Ability to stand and lift patients with or without assistance.
Company Overview
Stony Brook University is a smoke-free environment. Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus, including parking lots and outdoor areas. All Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. Shift differential available for night shift. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton's Employee Health Services.
- Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen.
- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
