Practice Assistant

The Seattle office of Ogletree Deakins, a premier global labor and employment law firm, is seeking a highly skilled Practice Assistant to join its growing team. As a key member of the support staff, you will provide exceptional administrative assistance to attorneys, ensuring the delivery of quality legal services to clients.
Key Responsibilities- Document Preparation: Utilize word processing and document management software to prepare and process correspondence, memoranda, and complex legal documents. Independently compose and draft routine cover letters and documents, proofread for accuracy, and prepare revisions and redlines as directed.
- Calendar Management: Maintain and update calendars for assigned attorneys, including meetings, appointments, due dates, and client-related activities.
- File Maintenance: Ensure compliance with internal policies by maintaining paper and electronic files, performing routine filing, and retrieving files as needed.
- Timekeeping: Prepare time entries for assigned attorneys and submit in a timely manner.
- General Administrative Support: Prepare and process new matter documents, receive and screen phone calls, take messages as required, and coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, and expense reports.
- 4+ years of experience as a practice assistant or legal secretary.
- Knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and legal processes.
- Accurate typing of at least 70 words per minute.
- Strong computer proficiency in MS Office, document management, time entry, e-filing, and database software.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Understanding of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Strong proofreading skills.
- Superior organizational skills, including filing, calendaring, and proofreading.
- Time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Regular, predictable attendance.
