Job Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Project Estimator to join their estimating and sales team. This role is essential in evaluating projects, ordering materials, managing subcontractors, and overseeing field budgets. The estimator will play a critical role in ensuring cost-effective and innovative project execution.

Compensation:

The successful candidate can expect a competitive compensation package ranging from $90,000 to $120,000, commensurate with your experience, education, certifications, and skill set. This reflects a strong commitment to attracting top-tier talent for this pivotal role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and bidding instructions to determine the scope of work.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate soil conditions, access points, and other site-specific challenges.
  • Perform accurate takeoffs using Agtek software for volume calculations and staging requirements.
  • Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors, ensuring comprehensive scopes of work.
  • Research and analyze materials, equipment, and labor requirements for project pricing.

Proposal Development:

  • Prepare detailed bid proposals, including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
  • Present bids to clients and negotiate terms.

Project Management:

  • Set up accounting budgets, develop project schedules, and prepare field documentation.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings with field personnel to communicate scope and exclusions.
  • Manage subcontractor contracts and purchase orders.
  • Track and implement change orders and budget adjustments.
  • Assist with draw applications and closeout documentation.

Field Coordination:

  • Ensure compliance with utility locates and safety regulations.
  • Attend field meetings to address challenges and maintain project alignment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Ability to perform takeoffs using Agtek software.
  • At least 3 years of experience in estimating civil projects.
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid software.
  • Project management experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong critical path scheduling and budget management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Strong analytical abilities to review drawings and specifications.
  • Mastery of estimating and change order processes.
