Furnace Operations Specialist

MW/MB, a joint venture between IKO and TAMKO, seeks a highly skilled Furnace Engineer to join our team at our Clarksville, TN facility.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in ceramic, mechanical, or chemical engineering and a minimum of 10 years of experience in furnace and manufacturing operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of manufacturing processes, including batch and furnace operations, safety, value, and quality.
- Maximize furnace life through inspections, repairs, and maintenance, as well as proper operational control.
- Lead and manage furnace cold repair and rebuild efforts.
- Order and inventory supplies needed to maintain furnace and forehearth area.
- Train, develop, and work with furnace techs to ensure stable and consistent furnace operations.
- Trial new raw materials and gather data to support or disprove merit.
- Monitor the condition of all equipment in the batch, furnace, and forehearth area and initiate necessary repairs.
- Ensure melting temperature profile is maintained in the furnace and forehearth, as well as all other important process parameters.
- Maintain and troubleshoot system from batch truck and rail unloading, batch mixing, transporting, and charging through the furnace and forehearth.
- Maintain proper gas to oxygen ratios in the furnace and forehearths.
- Keep and input all batch formulas and verify calibration on batch weighing system.
- Profile and clean gas/oxy burners and forehearth pencil burners.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain electric boost system.
- Opacity reading qualified.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of SPC and six sigma methodology.
- Working knowledge of Wonderware, Noltec, North American, and Eclipse systems.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products.
- Bachelor's degree in ceramic, mechanical, or chemical engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in furnace and manufacturing operations.
