Logistics Coordinator

Position Summary

The role of the Dispatcher/Order Taker involves the critical task of receiving, allocating, scheduling, and conveying work orders to ready mix drivers, ensuring that all operations and projects are executed efficiently and punctually. This position utilizes dispatching systems to enhance production, delivery effectiveness, and overall service quality.

Primary Responsibilities

• Receive, document, and allocate orders to authorized clients.
• Utilize the Sysdyne Concrete Go dispatch system and perform direct data entry with utmost precision.
• Ensure compliance with specifications for all dispatched orders.
• Monitor cycle times, weather conditions, demand trends, production, and delivery statuses, adjusting assignments as necessary to optimize efficiency.
• Engage professionally and clearly with drivers, production supervisors, and clients to enhance service and operational efficiency.
• Handle inbound calls and make outbound calls promptly and courteously, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing necessary information.
• Assist in assigning orders to production facilities and scheduling to maximize delivery efficiency.
• Complete necessary dispatching and delivery documentation and reports, forwarding all orders and sales information as required.
• Coordinate the activities of delivery drivers and trucking assignments in collaboration with the Production Manager and Production Specialist.
• Respond to routine customer inquiries regarding delivery, credit, invoicing, and account balances.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance at assigned times.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in construction and/or ready-mix preferred, but not mandatory.
• At least one year of dispatching experience is advantageous.

Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to interpret and utilize construction specifications and concrete mix designs.
• General understanding of the properties and performance of concrete mixes and their components.
• Capability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical functions accurately.
• Ability to analyze issues independently.
• Ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
• Consistent production of efficient and accurate work outputs.

Work Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a current and valid driver's license.
• Exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor towards co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
• Must pass post-offer employment drug testing, medical examinations, and physical agility assessments.
• Willingness to collaborate in a team environment and assist colleagues and supervisors as needed.
• Must be open to travel and work away from home when necessary.
• Availability to work nights and weekends as required.
• Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in designated operational areas as mandated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
