Product Development Engineer Job Description

Amphenol Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Product Development Engineer to join our team in Hamden, CT. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-speed bulk wire products that meet the safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and validate high-speed bulk wire products for high-performance applications
  • Utilize SolidWorks and other design tools to create detailed drawings and schematics for testing and product needs
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to product development, including design changes, specifications, and compliance standards
  • Support the implementation of PLM software tools and systems, providing training and support to team members
  • Collaborate with front-end and back-end teams during all phases of product design, simulation, prototyping, validation, and production implementation
  • Communicate effectively at all levels using visuals, presentations, and emails
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform design practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent education/work experience
  • Experience with CAD - SolidWorks or equivalent
  • Experience with PLM software - PTC Windchill preferred
  • Experience in product lifecycle management, particularly in electrical wire design or related industries
  • Experience with new product development and introduction to volume manufacturing
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
