Mental Health Specialist

Job Title: Psychiatric Prescriber: Psychiatrist/NP/CNS
Department/Program: Valley Counseling Services
Reports to: Medical Director
Schedule: Determined on a case-by-case basis
The Psychiatric Prescriber at Axesspointe Community Health Center is responsible for screening, diagnosing, treating, and managing the mental health care of identified clients. This role requires a graduate degree in an accredited medical institution and post-graduate training in Psychiatry. The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain a license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio and possess skills in crisis intervention and emergency services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer psychiatric treatment, including prescriptions and medication reviews
- Assess the need for hospitalization
- Establish an initial treatment plan and monitor progress
- Initiate referrals to internal and external providers
- Provide psychiatric consultations and program consultations as appropriate
- Teach clients and families about medication management
- Complete psychiatric evaluations and documentation
- Coordinate with the Medical Director and other prescribers to ensure continuity of care
- Perform all customary job duties and comply with agency policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree from an accredited medical institution and post-graduate training in Psychiatry
- Ability to maintain a license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio
- Skills in crisis intervention and emergency services
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate degree from an accredited medical or nursing school and licensed as an MD/DO/NP/CNS in the state of Ohio
- Adequate levels of insurance and/or insurability
Preferred Experience: Prior experience is preferred.
