Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Navigation Systems Engineer to join our team at Lockheed Martin. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing technical training to senior and junior military personnel, as well as civilian government employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for senior and junior military personnel and civilian government employees.
  • Design and implement Special Test Plans for Strategic Weapons Systems (SWS) and act as Test Director aboard CSS and SSBNs.
  • Generate naval messages and review Strategic Navigation Fleet Documentation, providing comments and updates as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and manage products that ensure proper performance and adherence to standards.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in technical manual development, process adherence, and standards.
  • Develop and manage products that require critical performance to avoid serious impacts to the overall program.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge of operations and maintenance, preferably with the Trident Navigation Program.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans and initiatives that align with the company's goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • SSBN experience, ex-Nav ET or junior officer (qualified in submarines).
  • Ability to provide technical training to senior and junior military personnel as well as civilian government employees.
  • Experience in developing SWS Special Test Plans and acting as Test director aboard the CSS and SSBNs.
  • Familiar with Strategic Navigation Fleet Documentation, and able to review same and provide comments and updates as required.
  • Physically capable of going to sea onboard surface and subsurface NAVY vessels.
  • Ideal candidate will be prior senior navigation Electronics Technician or naval officer with extensive SWS SSBN experience.
  • Experience in Training and Certification of Fleet personnel.
  • Prior Strategic Navigation SSP, TYCOM or Squadron/NSSC staff experience is desired.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Technical Manual development, process adherence, and standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage products in which proper performance is critical to avoid serious impacts to the overall program.
  • Process Improvement mindset/skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of operations and maintenance, preferably with the Trident Navigation Program.
  • Proven experience with the ability to quickly become a meaningful team contributor.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience solving challenging problems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office product knowledge.
Desired Skills
  • Qualified Strategic Navigation Center Supervisor.
  • Qualified Diving Office of the Watch (DOOW).
