Medical Support Professional

Job Summary
The Coastal Family Health Center is seeking a skilled and competent Medical Assistant (PRN) to support both clinical and administrative staff members. The ideal candidate will work within the scope of their practice, demonstrating knowledge and skills consistent with the Medical Assistant's role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support clinical and administrative staff members as directed by the practice manager and care team provider.
- Work within the scope of their practice, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, co-workers, and the general public.
- Carry out job duties in an effective and appropriate manner, utilizing time management skills and organizational abilities.
- Process provider orders in accordance with current policy and in a timely manner.
- Obtain correctly completed consents and other forms requiring patient or parent signature.
- Perform vision and hearing tests, EKGs, injections, immunizations, CLIA wave testing, and other nursing procedures.
- Assist in the laboratory as directed by Practice Manager or Director of Nursing.
- Maintain necessary files, records, and logs.
- Document in EHR completely and accurately according to workflow.
- Keep examination rooms and work areas prepared and maintain adequate supplies.
- Act as an advocate for the patient and family.
- Provide patient and parent education as directed by Medical Provider.
- Screen and process requests for information and services through telephone and in-person triage and document in EHR Telephone template.
- Professionally interact with patients, providers, coworkers, and the general public.
- Actively and effectively communicate status, progress, and needs to Practice Manager or Director of Nursing.
- Actively assess the security of patients, staff, and the facility, and provide reports of problems to Practice Manager or Risk Manager.
- Support performance improvement activities and policies.
Requirements
- Graduate of a recognized program designed for training MAs.
- Certification by a nationally recognized certifying body, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists Agency (AMT), National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP), and National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), and the National Health Career Association (NHA).
- Valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance coverage (minimum of liability).
Working Conditions
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently during the workday.
- Subject to frequent interruptions.
- May be required to work beyond normal hours, in other specialties, or different locations as needed.
