Accounting Associate I Position

The State of Maine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the Accounting Associate I position in the Accounting Unit. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in revenue collections and expenditure processing, ensuring the financial operations of the Bureau run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities- Reconcile revenue from various sources, including daily bank deposits, mail received from municipalities, and branch office point-of-sale reports.
- Perform data entry and maintain spreadsheets for online unit and revenue collections.
- Process expenditure invoices for vendor payment and employee reimbursement.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers via phone and in-person interactions.
- Process incoming mail and refunds to customers on a daily basis.
- Knowledge of query and research techniques.
- Ability to establish computerized and/or manual filing systems.
- Ability to make intermediate mathematical calculations.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
The State of Maine offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 13 paid holidays, 12 days of sick leave, and 3+ weeks of vacation leave annually. Health insurance coverage is provided, with the State paying 85-95% of employee-only premiums. Dental insurance is also offered, with the State paying 100% of employee-only premiums. A retirement plan is available, with the State contributing 13.29% of the employee's pay towards the Maine Public Employees Retirement System.
