Position Overview

As a vital member of the NICU Transport team, the Pediatric RN Registered Nurse will provide critical care for patients during air transport. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of critically ill or injured infants and children.

Responsibilities

The Pediatric RN will:
  • Deliver advanced life support for critically ill or injured patients during transport.
  • Respond to emergency calls, assess the situation, and coordinate with necessary authorities.
  • Conduct patient assessments and triage, providing emergency care as needed.
  • Communicate with receiving medical staff, relaying observations and following their directives.
  • Determine the best transport method and assist in establishing a safe landing zone.
Qualifications

Certification / Registration:
  • Must hold a Licensed Registered Nurse credential from the Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Required certifications include:
  • Advanced Life Support from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months of hire.
  • BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) within 6 months of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire.
  • Certification as a Registered Nurse specializing in Flight is preferred.
Education:
  • Diploma from an accredited nursing school is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Emergency Department or Intensive Care Unit is required.
Additional Preferences:
  • 5 years of Level 4 NICU experience with leadership or charge background.
  • Experience in transport nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree and NICU certification are preferred.
