Job Overview

Candle Media is a dynamic media production company based in Los Angeles seeking a senior-level Systems Administrator to join our team. This hybrid role combines technical expertise with strategic thinking, requiring a sharp eye for pinpointing inefficiencies and developing elegant solutions.

This full-time position involves managing internal network and server inventory, building, configuring, and upgrading systems as needed. The successful candidate will work closely with our Manager, Information Technology, and collaborate with other departments to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage internal network and server inventory, ensuring seamless integration and efficient operation.
  • Configure and administer Active Directory, Google Workspace, and other cloud-based services to support user productivity.
  • Provide technical support for Post-Production, resolving tickets in a timely manner and collaborating with the team to resolve complex issues.
  • Research and discuss engineering solutions to optimize production workflows, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Automate and streamline tasks using configuration managers and scripts, enhancing system reliability and performance.
  • Implement and maintain archival and backup workflows between on-prem and cloud infrastructure, ensuring data security and integrity.
  • Demonstrate a holistic understanding of systems and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Troubleshoot, build, maintain, and image workstations and servers in-house, adhering to industry best practices.
  • Advise team members and users on best practices for leveraging network and server infrastructure, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting production networks and storage in a production environment, with a strong focus on technical development and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of ProMax Platform server, OpenDrives, and other media storage platforms, with a deep understanding of network infrastructure and fiber cabling.
  • Experience using Mac deployment/management tools, such as JumpCloud, Munki, or SimpleMDM, and administration skills with Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, media creation platforms, and Atlassian suite products (Jira, Confluence, Stash), with a plus for experience with GCP and cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational, proactive, and efficient skills, with the ability to spot and document recurring issues, communicate effectively with all levels of staff, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to think outside the box, with a fast wit and attention to detail, prioritizing tasks, working independently, and maintaining high-quality work standards.
