We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at St. David's South Austin Medical Center.

Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides services using radionuclides to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of disease, demonstrating knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of nuclear medicine, radiation protection and specialized techniques.

  • Perform Nuclear Medicine exams in accordance with SDMC Medical Imaging protocols.
  • Administer prescribed pharmaceutical grade radioactive materials to patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.
  • Demonstrate appropriate radioactive materials safety measures for self, other staff and patients as outlined by state/federal regulations.

To be successful in this role, you should have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Additionally, you should possess strong attention to detail and be committed to providing high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will be responsible for:

  • Explain procedures to patients prior to exam.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with equipment used for NM exams (Spect Cameras, and PACS).
  • Ensure availability of physician for procedures requiring the administration of medications and supervision.
  • Perform duties to maintain department functions such as QC checks.
Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Graduate from an approved Joint Review Committee on Education Program in Nuclear Medicine Technology program or equivalent.
  • Certified or Temporary Certified by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist.
  • Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (CNMT) or Certified in nuclear medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) or Board eligible to take the CNMT or ARRT (N) examinations within 24 months.
