Role Overview

This role reports directly to the President of Liberty New York Water and is chiefly accountable for overseeing personnel and initiatives related to engineering and business development. Responsibilities include making strategic assignments, decisions, and recommendations for facility master planning and the design/construction of various projects. The position serves as a project coordinator, establishing project milestones, managing contracts, controlling expenses, and ensuring project completion. Additionally, it involves overseeing capital project cost management, ensuring accurate recording of all expenditures, and collaborating with other leaders to identify long-term capital improvement needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth technical research to address complex engineering challenges. Prepare comprehensive studies, reports, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate and manage multiple projects associated with water and wastewater systems, including master planning, design, project management, and construction.
  • Make informed decisions regarding the design and construction of utility facilities and system operations to address demand and emergencies.
  • Oversee capital project cost management, ensuring accurate expense recording and collaborating with other leaders on long-term capital needs.
  • Administer various contracts, prepare reports, project plans/specifications, and other communications.
  • Prepare materials for company rate cases, including providing testimony as necessary. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Engineering Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Registered Professional Civil Engineer with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience in water and wastewater facility design and project management.
  • A Master's Degree in Engineering may substitute for two years of experience.
  • At least four years of supervisory experience in a management role with increasing responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated strong sense of responsibility and exceptional interpersonal and technical skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel within the US & Canada; valid driver's license and passport required.
  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational, research, analytical, multitasking, and time management skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities.
