Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer III to join our First and Middle Mile Planning and Routing team. As a key member of our team, you will design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge solutions that enable our operations partners to provide best-in-class transportation planning and routing for First and Middle Mile movements at Wayfair.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable and efficient software solutions for multiple services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand system impacts on customers, field associates, and other systems
  • Mentor and develop other engineers through pairing, mentoring, and learning opportunities
  • Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence and strengthen technical expertise of engineering and product teams

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering and designing systems at scale
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (we primarily use Python, Java, and PHP)
  • Experience with asynchronous event streaming platforms, message queues, or similar (we use Kafka)
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL datastores (we use SQL Server and Google Big Query)
  • Experience with front-end frameworks (we use ReactJS and TypeScript) is a plus
  • Experience with horizontally scalable distributed computing environments (we use Kubernetes across on-premises data centers and Google Cloud Platform)
