Job Summary:
">We are seeking an experienced LPN Sr to join our team at Maryland Oncology Hematology. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nursing and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
">- Provide general nursing care to patients, including administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist with the preparation of equipment and aid physicians during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observe, record, and report patients' conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions and provide follow-up for receipt of test results.
- Respond to and refer incoming telephone calls.
- Instruct patients and family members regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Formulate and update patient care plans.
- Order, prepare, and inspect patients' charts.
- Post tests and examination results.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Ensure appropriate consent has been obtained prior to treatment or procedures.
- Perform EKG and oxymetry readings as needed by physicians.
- Perform lab procedures and processing of lab specimens as needed.
- File all labs and outside reports accurately and as needed.
- Obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions.
- Maintain all exam room disinfection protocols.
- Maintain all chemo room and procedure room disinfection protocols.
- Prepare exam rooms, including re-stocking of treatment areas.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as required or directed by physicians.
- Arrange for pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
- Obtain new patient records and previous test results, x-rays, scans, etc.
- Act as a backup for other medical assistants and schedulers as needed.
- Maintain patient files, records, and other information.
- Act as preceptor and provide input to performance appraisals of Medical Assistants.
Qualifications:
">To be considered for this role, you must have a high school graduate or equivalent, a graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing, and a minimum of five years experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting. Phlebotomy experience is preferred, and you must hold a current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in your practicing state. Current CPR certification is also required.
Compensation and Benefits:
