Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Laboratory Animal Care Specialist to join our team at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center. This role is responsible for providing husbandry care for laboratory animals, including cleaning cages, preparing feed and bedding, and performing technical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Clean cages using cage wash machinery and prepare feed and bedding for technicians.
- Provide direct contact with animals, including husbandry and cage changing.
- Perform basic in vivo techniques in multiple species and learn advanced techniques as needed.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including sanitization and stocking supplies.
- Complete assigned trainings prior to deadlines and act as a mentor to junior staff.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years experience or A.S. or equivalent degree and 1 year experience.
- Entry-level certification in related field or techniques preferred (example: AALAS ALAT).
- Physical dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, organizational and time management skills.
- Sensitivity to changes in environmental conditions encountered in task performance.
