We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team at Performance Foodservice. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet vehicles.

Salary: Up to $29.36 per hour, with shift differential for overnight hours

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are ever the same. As a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic Technician, you will diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment. Your expertise will ensure that our fleet remains operational, allowing us to deliver high-quality food products to our customers.

You will work closely with our experienced maintenance team to identify and implement solutions to optimize vehicle performance and extend their lifespan. Your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently will be essential in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections
  • Work with the maintenance team to identify and implement solutions to optimize vehicle performance and extend their lifespan
  • Train and guide junior mechanics to develop their skills and knowledge
  • Comply with all relevant safety regulations and company policies

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in diesel mechanics preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including PM's, tire & wheel, air & disc brakes, diagnosis, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and refrigeration &/or overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment
