Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As a Patient Care Specialist, you will provide direct patient care, meeting both psychological and physical needs in accordance with the plan of care, physician's orders, and nursing and department policies and procedures.

About the Role
  • You will contribute to the development and maintenance of a current, individualized, goal-oriented plan of care, consulting with other health professionals as needed.
  • You will observe, assess, document, and report patient response to treatments/therapies and teaching, adjusting priorities of care according to patient/caregiver needs.
  • You will participate in unit, service, and/or department enrichment activities contributing to positive outcomes.
  • You will provide a broad range of treatments/therapies to patients, including respiratory treatments, oral suctioning, administration of medications, observation of cardiac monitors, and reporting of any changes.
  • You will provide assistance to patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
  • You will provide support to patients and families, verbally de-escalating frightened or potentially aggressive patients, and facilitating age-appropriate coping strategies.
Requirements
  • You must be a graduate of a state-accredited program of practical nurse education.
  • You must be licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of North Carolina, requiring BLS certification.
  • No prior experience is required.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is estimated at $22.50 per hour, based on industry standards and location. At UNC Health, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
