Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year (dependent on experience)

 

Job Description:**

As an Inventory Management Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that materials are available when needed, costs are managed, and inventory levels are optimized. This role involves overseeing and managing all aspects of material control within the organization and vendor, including planning, coordinating, and optimizing inventory management, procurement, and resource utilization.

 

Key Responsibilities:**

  • Manage inventory levels and ensure that materials are ordered and received on time to meet production plans
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to place orders, control spec changes, and manage logistics
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory and track the movement of materials within the plant
  • Develop and implement inventory control procedures and systems to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste
  • Perform regular physical inventory counts to reconcile inventory levels and identify discrepancies or shortages
  • Analyze data related to inventory levels, lead times, and usage patterns to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings
  • Identify material requirements and timing by direct acquisition of materials to support production schedules
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and development of team members
  • Remove roadblocks and resolve problems delaying project progress and department milestones
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure efficiency, monitor progress, assess performance, and make informed decisions
  • Prepare regular reports on material availability, inventory status, and performance
  • Continuously evaluate cost reduction improvements in material ordering and inventory control management

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Purchasing Management, Logistics, or a related field, and have at least 7 years of experience in material control/planning, inventory management, supply chain management, or a related job. Automotive manufacturing experience, particularly in OEM or Tier 1 environments, is highly desirable. Advanced Microsoft Applications expertise and knowledge of transportation principles and methods are also essential. Proficiency in SAP is required.
