Job Description

As a Physician Assistant at Precision Orthopedics and Sports Medicine LLC, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Examining patients, taking medical histories, recording results, and making preliminary diagnoses or deciding on follow-up procedures.
  • Administering and ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work, and interpreting test results.
  • Performing therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations, injections, suturing, and wound care, and managing infections.
  • Exercising professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
  • Developing and implementing patient care plans, instructing and counseling patients, and recording progress.
  • Prescribing medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations.
  • Providing general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Assisting physicians with emergency treatments and more complex procedures.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Demonstrated competency dealing with all age groups.
  • Familiarity with orthopedics and sports medicine.
Education and Experience

We require applicants to have one of the following:

  • Completion of a four-year physician assistant baccalaureate program and a year of clinical training.
  • Completion of a two-year accredited physician assistant program plus two years of clinical training following completion of the PA program.
  • State accreditation based on certifying exam.
  • Must hold an unrestricted Physician Assistant license in Maryland.
  • Continued employment requires 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and passing a recertification examination every six years.
Physical Requirements

This position requires:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient body fluids.
