We are seeking a highly motivated Prevention and Wellness Educator to join our team at The Educational Alliance Inc. in New York.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with older adults, providing prevention education and intervention services to promote healthy aging, healthy lifestyle choices, harm reduction, and prevent and treat onset of alcohol and substance use as part of OASAS W.I.S.E/SBIRT pilot program.

The successful candidate will engage the community in array of prevention and wellness services within Center for Recovery and Wellness, building strong relationships with local older adult community centers, community organizations, community/resident associations, resident/tenant councils, community centers, and other community-based organizations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Support: Plan, organize, and coordinate prevention and wellness activities, including trainings, workshops, and presentations.
  • Provide direct prevention education and intervention services to older adults.
  • Engage and provide technical assistance and training to professionals of educational institutions and community members.
  • Gather information and analyze data for the purpose of evaluating and adjusting delivered material.
  • Select various educational and informational materials.
  • Travel to multiple sites to provide services to older adults, community members, and partners.
  • Provide prevention and wellness information at community health fairs and booths.
  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records of workshops/presentations, including sign-in sheets and completed participant pre/post evaluations.
Administrative Support
  • Assist Prevention Coordinator/ Program Director in gathering information required for grant proposals, renewals, narratives, and reports.
  • Provide administrative assistance, including answering phones, scanning, filing, faxing, copying for direct supervisor.
  • Build working productive interdepartmental relationships across the Agency and in the community to ensure successful planning and execution of required duties.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Work or Human Services or related field is required.
  • Experience in dealing with culturally diverse groups strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with older adult population.
  • Ability to maintain high ethical standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of marketing strategies and community building.
  • Self-motivated, strong attention to details, and highly analytical.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Strong information technology skills and well-versed in Microsoft office products.
  • Ability to work a flexible working schedule as needed.
