Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Lifeguard to join our team at the City of Ontario, CA. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of swimmers and enforcing rules to prevent accidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe swimmers to ensure safety and enforce rules to prevent accidents
  • Provide emergency response as needed
  • Inspect facilities and equipment for safety, maintenance, and cleanliness
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on facilities and equipment
Requirements
  • Must be at least 15 years of age at time of appointment
  • Valid American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Aid for the professional rescuer or equivalent
  • Ability to work various schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed within a public swimming pool environment where stamina is needed to perform moderate to heavy lifting and to stay in the pool for prolonged periods of time.

Work is primarily performed outdoors in a pool environment with wet and slippery conditions; incumbents are exposed to variable weather conditions and may be exposed to chlorine, acids, and other chemicals at aquatics facilities, as well as blood and body fluids rendering first aid and CPR.
