Labor and Delivery Nurse Specialist

Magnet Medical is a leading provider of healthcare services, seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join their team in Indiana. The estimated salary for this position is $110,000 per year, based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week.
Job Description- This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced labor and delivery environment.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Labor Support and Monitoring:
- Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs, detecting any potential complications or concerns.
- Administer medications as prescribed by obstetricians, ensuring the safe and effective management of labor.
- Provide continuous emotional support and pain management throughout the labor process, using comfort measures such as positioning, breathing techniques, and encouragement.
- Assisting with Delivery:
- Assist obstetricians during vaginal deliveries, providing instrumentation assistance, suctioning, and other necessary actions during birth.
- Participate in cesarean section procedures, ensuring the sterile field and assisting with the delivery process.
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and initial assessment of the newborn's health immediately after delivery.
- Postpartum Care:
- Monitor the health and recovery of both mother and newborn in the immediate postpartum period, assessing vital signs, bleeding, and uterine tone.
- Assist with breastfeeding support, teaching proper latch techniques, positioning, and addressing concerns related to infant care.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Accurately document all assessments, interventions, medications, and patient progress in the electronic health record, maintaining compliance with hospital policies and legal standards.
