Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team at The First Bank. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible for originating conventional, FHA, VA, and RD loans that meet investor requirements and comply with state and federal laws and regulations.

You will promote Bank products and services to existing and potential clients in the community, with a special emphasis on Low to Moderate Income communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert mortgage advice to potential borrowers
  • Stay current with Bank's underwriting policy, investor guidelines, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
  • Develop and maintain referral networks of Bank associates and external referral sources
  • Manage a clean pipeline of loans in process, coordinating with Processors, Underwriters, and Closers on a daily basis
  • Deliver all compliance documents and disclosures in a timely manner

Additional Duties:

  • Take a complete application and collect all required documentation for verification
  • Prepare borrowers for the process and keep all parties involved up to date on important developments and current status of application
  • Inform applicants of closing costs, such as appraisal, credit report, and notary fees
  • Coordinate the closing with borrowers, closing agents, Realtors, and others involved in the transaction
  • Interview loan applicants to document income, debt, and credit history
  • Determine if applicants meet establishment standards for further consideration
  • Answer applicant questions and ask for signature on information authorization forms
  • Submit application forms to Mortgage Loan Processor for verification of application information
  • Call applicants or other persons to resolve discrepancies, such as credit report showing late payment history
  • Inform applicants of loan denial or acceptance
  • Keep Bank associates up to date on changes in the industry and work as a team member with other lines of business
  • Keep all compliance requirements up to date and maintain a working knowledge of products and services provided by other lines of business and Bank affiliates
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by Senior Management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 2 years of LMI specific mortgage sales experience required

This position requires National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. As such, upon active employment, you will be required to either register on NMLS or re-register and move your previous registration. Your continued employment in this position is contingent upon successful registration immediately after your start date and annual renewal of your registration thereafter. In addition, information obtained during the registration process may impact your employment.
