Coastal Gulf & International, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Scientist to join our team in the United States. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about laboratory work and have a strong background in chemistry or related science.

About the Job

This is a full-time position with regular working hours, offering an excellent compensation package, including a salary range of $ $50,000 - $65,000 per annum. As a Laboratory Scientist at Coastal Gulf & International, Inc., you will be responsible for performing routine laboratory tests under close supervision to determine chemical or physical characteristics of samples.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related science, with a minimum of one (2) year of direct transferable experience working in a laboratory environment. You should also be knowledgeable in ASTM standards and proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access.

We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills, who can work effectively in a laboratory environment with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be able to differentiate between colors accurately by sight and have a great track record of being a responsible individual.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic analytical tests based on standards and procedures as assigned by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Assist and perform the setting up, adjusting and operating laboratory equipment.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments as needed to ensure that analysis is accurate according to the Quality Management systems.
  • Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used.
  • Understand and complete laboratory raw data sheets and make accurate entries into LIMS data base.
  • Ability to read and comprehend all analysis as well as safety standards in English, including ASTM, UOP, IP and other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
  • Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Laboratory Manual & Safety Manual and company policies.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds and work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals without allergic reactions or nausea, when such odors are within OSHA-designated permissible exposure limits (PELs).
