Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Toxicology Specialist - Environmental Forensic Analyst to join our team at the City and County of San Francisco.

About the Role

In this critical position, you will work under the supervision of the Forensic Toxicologist Supervisor and the direction of the Chief Forensic Toxicologist and Director of the Forensic Laboratory Division. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and validate automated extractions using a new Liquid Handling System for inclusion on comprehensive LC-MS/MS and LC-QTOF/MS analyses.

As a Toxicology Specialist - Environmental Forensic Analyst, you will be responsible for performing complex and difficult forensic analyses, preparing case reports, recording findings, interpreting data, and testifying in courtroom proceedings. You will also be required to lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to biohazards and potentially toxic chemicals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 50 lbs
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in a life science or physical science with 16 semester hours in general and organic chemistry courses, a statistics course, and two analytical and/or interpretive courses in forensic toxicology, pharmacology, and chemistry. You must also possess a valid California Driver License and be eligible for certification by the State of California Department of Public Health as a Title 17 Forensic Alcohol Analyst within five years of hire.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $61.1625 - $74.3625 hourly. The City and County of San Francisco offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
