About the English Language Center

The English Language Center (ELC) at Drexel University is accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation and is a member of the University and College Intensive English Programs consortium and EnglishUSA. The ELC's Intensive English Program and International Gateway Program provide high-quality English language instruction to international students.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching ESL courses to international students, including:

  • Teaching 3-13 hours per week in ESL writing, speaking, grammar, vocabulary, content-based English, and TOEFL or IELTS test preparation
  • Developing and implementing engaging lesson plans to meet the needs of students
  • Evaluating student progress and providing feedback
Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education or working with college students
  • The ability to teach academic preparation courses
  • Superior level of English proficiency
  • The ability to use technology such as Blackboard, Smartboard, audio streaming, and other classroom technologies

The estimated salary for this position is $50,000-$75,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Drexel University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
