Flatiron Construction is seeking an exceptional Senior Contracts Manager to oversee project controls and activities for our high-profile HRBT project.

The $3.3 billion Design Build project will be the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The project scope spans a 9-mile section of the I-64, including a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing, replacement of existing marine approach bridges, and the addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction.

As the Senior Contracts Manager, you will interpret contract language to understand project risks, rights, and responsibilities, guiding project teams to manage in accordance with these clauses and limit the company's exposure to additional costs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and analyzing contract management records to provide technical advice and project control guidance for limiting exposure or protecting the company from additional risks due to changes and claims.
  • Overseeing project change and claim reporting, providing reporting to the Project Controls Director for Division-level reports.
  • Supporting projects in preparing for dispute resolution hearings and alternative resolution methods meetings.
  • Coordinating with project teams and the Project Controls Director to track and monitor change orders and claims preparation and resolution.
  • Preparing action plans for resolving unsecured revenue, including Unsecured Revenue and Claims reporting forms.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the company's values and strategic plan.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field and 10+ years of experience in construction engineering, project management, or project controls. You should have knowledge of complex scheduling, cost control processes, claims/change preparation, and dispute resolution procedures, as well as construction contract agreements and change order processes.

The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of accounting principles, including construction accounting, and proven leadership and influential skills. They should be able to effectively work and communicate with all levels of the company.
