Job Summary

The Quality Department Manager is responsible for ensuring all safety regulations and HESS policies are followed during operations. This role manages the day-to-day operations of the department, planning, coordinating, and directing quality control programs to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety and HESS policies.
  • Use basic mathematical calculations, add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Audit and monitor product quality for the department.
  • Communicate with Department and Plant Manager on nonconformance issues and general discussion.
  • Participate in department audits and ensure all issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Encourage employee development through training, education, and positive reinforcement.
  • Ensure all quality work is conducted in accordance with the company training materials.
  • Directly responsible for employee development, discipline, and staffing needs.
  • Review and approve employee time records and requests.
  • Maintain clear communication with Supply Chain on material issues.
  • Be dedicated to continuous improvement, researching and brainstorming.
  • Support company objectives and utilize best practices to meet goals.
  • Work with the Quality Engineer and Plant Manager on future opportunities.
  • Make fact-based decisions using data and historical knowledge.
  • Actively engage in employee full life cycle, including interviewing, hiring, training, development, and performance management.
  • Lead by example, using the 5S Principles, maintaining a clean and organized area.
  • Oversee tooling and material discrepancies.
  • Oversee controls of non-conforming material.
  • Keep calibration records current and up to date.
  • Develops budget and regulates QC labor and equipment resources to meet inspection and calibration requirements.
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data.
  • Assists in the development and revisions of the Inspection Records.
  • Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability.
  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Responsible for training and teaching inspectors proper company inspection procedures.
  • Monitors inspector's work assignments daily and documents inspector training.
  • Communicate with Production Control, Manufacturing, Test, Customers, and Government Representatives.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process and tests products for various qualities such as dimensions and performance.
  • Writes quality and process reports to validate standards and performance.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality.
  • Familiar with and understands GD&T.
  • Maintain needed training certification.

  • High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret documents such as safety rules, prints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Black Belt certified.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet software and Mini Tab software.
