As a PK/PD and QSP modeler, Neuroscience - Senior Scientist, you will be empowered to interface between biology/pharmacology, chemistry/biologics, nonclinical safety assessment, drug metabolism, translational medicine, clinical pharmacology, and clinical research to influence drug discovery and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive decision-making in drug discovery research by building a quantitative model of novel therapeutic agents to treat various neurological diseases, including neurodegeneration and neuromuscular diseases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a quantitative model-based understanding of the interactions of target biological pathways and novel therapeutic agents, and their impact on disease progression.
  • Formulate and implement a team-engaged modeling and simulation strategy, designing and building translational PK/PD/efficacy and mechanistic and/or systems models to assist and accelerate decisions around drug candidate selection, study design optimization, and biomarker selection.
  • Enable translational predictions of human pharmacologically active/efficacious dose, dosing schedule, and safety margin for clinical trials, leveraging clinical benchmarking insights from clinical comparators and/or their reverse translation.
Requirements
  • MS/PhD/PharmD in chemical or biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, mathematics, physics, or equivalent area.
  • Strong competency in building mathematical models is required, with proficiency in languages such as MATLAB, SimBiology, NONMEM, Phoenix, Python, or R.
  • At least 2 years (8 years with MS) of industry experience in mathematical modeling of biological systems.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills to evaluate complex information and identify key scientific questions.
  • Ability to communicate complex modeling results clearly and concisely to cross-functional audiences is critical.
  • Background or interest in applying modeling and simulation approaches to neurological diseases is preferred.

Takeda offers a competitive compensation package, including a U.S. base salary range of $133,000.00 - $209,000.00, as well as eligibility for short-term and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits.
