Clinical Laboratory Assistant

As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant at Atrium Health, you will play a vital role in supporting the efficient workflow of our laboratory. Your duties may include obtaining patient specimens, processing laboratory specimens, patient registration, and performing CLIA waived patient testing within the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collect and process patient blood obtained by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture in a timely and accurate manner.
• Process nonblood patient specimens in a timely and accurate fashion.
• Assist in specimen preparation, receipt, and transport of patient specimens.
• Perform patient registration and provide phone support for patient care areas in a polite and supportive manner.
• Maintain competency with hospital and laboratory information systems as needed to perform job duties.
• Train new team members and/or students in the department, including any standard work processes applicable to the work area.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required; Certification in phlebotomy preferred for facilities where phlebotomy is an assigned duty.
