As a Medical-Surgical Nurse at Bryan Health, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in a dynamic medical-surgical setting. You will communicate effectively with physicians, Nurse Managers, and coworkers to ensure seamless care delivery. Your ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough head-to-toe assessments on all patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and general patient populations.
  • Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients and families accordingly.
  • Revise patient care plans as needed, evaluating their effectiveness daily.
  • Perform waived testing and interpret results, taking appropriate action when necessary.
  • Deliver patient care considering the standard of care for patients of all ages.
  • Administer medications correctly, based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Follow medication rights to minimize errors.
  • Develop and implement teaching plans, incorporating family members as needed.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills.
  • Treat patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing their psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
  • Interact professionally with patients, families, and healthcare providers, involving them in the care planning process.
  • Provide age-appropriate care to patients, interpreting data to identify their specific needs.
  • Perform bedside reports at shift change, including handoffs of patient care.
  • Provide morning and evening care, including personal hygiene and other essential tasks.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Nebraska.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification within 6 months of hire.
