Job Summary:

The Aguirre Law Firm, APC is seeking a highly skilled Immigration Paralegal Assistant to join our team in Los Angeles. As a key member of our team, you will assist caseworkers in document collection, case management, and application preparation for USCIS and EOIR cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist caseworkers in document collection from clients for USCIS and EOIR cases
  • Assist case managers with case management duties and tasks
  • Prepare accurate English translations from Spanish of biographical documents or declarations and serve as interpreter as needed
  • Process mail and prepare and mail out packages
  • Complete general tasks, including copying, scanning, faxing, emailing, and note-taking
  • Answer, screen, and forward phone calls in a professional manner and take detailed messages to assist and support the caseworkers
  • Provide clients with case status and provide timely responses to client's questions
  • Schedule appointments with caseworkers and attorneys
  • Work with our case management system by placing notes, reviewing tasks, data entry, etc.
  • Close files by scanning and archiving files in database system
  • Provide back-up support to the reception team, including answering phone calls, collecting payments, greetings clients, and covering the desk during breaks and lunch breaks.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently
  • 1 year Immigration Experience Required - 2 years of Immigration experience is Preferred
  • Ability to take initiative and problem solve
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills and customer service skills required
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to type at least 45 wpm
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook, internet proficient
  • Ability to occasionally lift large case files of an excess weight of 25 Lbs.
  • Must be willing to travel to our Van Nuys Office once a week, or as needed
  • Ability to arrive punctually from Monday - Friday 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM & - Work 1 Saturday per month
