Critical Care Specialist for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

As a Seasonal NICU Registered Nurse, you will be an integral part of our interdisciplinary care team, working collaboratively with other members to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of care.
About the JobYou will be responsible for performing patient assessments, developing a plan of care, and implementing and evaluating care on infants in our Level III NICU. With over 360 beds, our hospital offers a wide range of services, including 24-hour emergency care, heart and vascular care, neurology and neurosurgery, rehabilitation services, and inpatient and outpatient surgery.
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient assessments, develop plans of care, and implement and evaluate care on infants
- Attend deliveries and perform neonatal stabilization and admission assessments of newborns
- Create a plan of care, including discharge plans, revise plans based on patient response to treatment, and regularly evaluate plans for effectiveness
- Conduct ongoing assessments of infants and communicate any changes to the Nurse Practitioner or Neonatologist
- Administer medications and complete treatments according to hospital policy
- Assist transport teams in stabilizing infants and provide necessary support and documentation to facilitate transfer
- Provide support and education materials to families on homecare, treatments, adoption, and support groups
- Assist in high-risk deliveries and assist the Nurse Practitioner with resuscitation
- Delegate work appropriately to non-licensed staff in accordance with standards of practice
- 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Experience in an acute care setting preferred
- Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required as per St. Davids Healthcare policy
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required as per St. Davids Healthcare policy
