Nurse Practitioner

JPS Health Network is seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team in Correctional Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver quality nursing care to assigned groups of patients under the guidance and supervision of the nurse in charge.
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions promptly.
• Conduct specified laboratory tests as required by the department.
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records to meet regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
• Complete documentation to meet regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
• Provide patient education directed towards identified knowledge deficits.
• Guide, educate, and provide leadership as a preceptor to LVNs and non-licensed clinical staff, as directed.
• Participate in performance improvement process initiatives within JPS Health Network and assigned department.
Requirements:
• Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.
• Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners and must maintain licensure throughout employment.
• Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
• ACLS within 3 months of hire (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
• EKG test passed within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
• Completion of Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire and maintains credentialing throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
• Completion of unit specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days, if applicable.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 6 weeks of employment (for Inpatient Women's Services only).
• Approved Education and Training in Non-Violent Crisis De-escalation must be obtained within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
• The following years of relevant experience are preferred:
- 2-4.99 years
