Sterile Processing Technician Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Sterile Processing Technician Specialist to join our team at VCU Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing surgical instrument processing according to the work flow of each specialty.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Sterile Processing Supervisor, Operating Room Specialty Team Manager, and Surgical Technologist Coordinator to provide resources and services for service-specific instrumentation.
- Coordinate and implement surgical instrument processing according to the work flow of each specialty.
- Act as a liaison between Sterile Processing staff members, SPD supervisors, Surgical Technologist Coordinator, and the Specialty Team Manager.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and trouble shoot daily operational issues impeding work flow of the specialty.
- Perform SPD Technician functions in all areas of SPD.
- Two or more years of previous work experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.
- Certification as a Registered Central Sterilization Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or Surgical Tech certification CST, or TS-C or CORST.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Completion of International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) certification preparation course or Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent and intense customer interactions. The ability to handle multiple priorities and adapt to frequent change is essential.
This role requires prolonged standing, frequent bending, walking, reaching, and repetitive motion. The ability to lift 20-50 pounds is also required.
